OWNER/MARKETING/SALES ASSISTANT

Full time position

Owner’s Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Meet with Owner every morning to discuss her needs for the day
  • Monitor her hold rod daily for new trunk show arrivals
  • Call her customers for trunk show, special events, and at sale time
  • Work with her in dressing rooms with her clients
  • Assist Owner’s customers when she is out of the store
  • Send out thank-you notes and letters as needed
  • Make pick-ups and deliveries to her clients when needed
  • Assist with merchandise swaps
  • Handle all market calls in store

Marketing Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Keep Marketing Consultant updated on new Trunk Show, special events dates
  • When buyers return from market, see what media advertising they might have
  • Print in store signage
  • Work with Marketing Consultant with in-store events and set up
  • Pick up food/flowers/wine, etc. when needed
  • Assist Marketing Consultant in planning events
  • Order tables, chairs, tablecloths and other items for events as needed
  • Create client lists with Mail Merge and print labels for direct mail pieces
  • Line up models for trunk shows, events, etc.
  • Update e-mail list from signup sheet at register
  • Assist Marketing Consultant on all social media output and what’s current.

Sales Floor Responsibilities:

  • Practice Barbara/Jean’s selling techniques at all times
  • Effective contact with potential clients by attending social events and benefits
  • Help on the sales floor if all associates are busy assisting other clients
  • Keep abreast of current fashion trends
  • Stay informed on current inventory (availability, color, in stock, prices)
  • Sell to clients if sales staff unavailable
  • Book hotel, airfare for buyer’s and reps for trunk show
  • Send Trunk Show Agreement to vendors along with hotel confirmation
  • Assist reps during trunk show, write up orders, etc.
  • Order and pick up lunch for visiting representatives and designers
  • Help unpack and repack trunks
  • Total Trunk Show orders and fax to vendors or give to buyer.
  • Enter Purchase Orders as needed
  • Assist cleaning out dressing rooms
  • Gift wrap when needed

Position Purpose

To offer every customer Barbara Jean’s outrageous service.     

Essential Position Functions

A.    Sales

  • Achieve monthly sales goal assigned by sales manager each month.
  • Practice Barbara Jean’s selling techniques at all times.
  • Maintain items per transaction and dollars per transaction at the department average or higher, by using effective add-on techniques.
  • Effective contact with potential clients by attending social events, benefits, joining community organizations, etc.
  • Spend a minimum of 30 minutes, of “Call Time” each day between 9:00-10:00 am., booking appointments (3 per day or 5 per team), follow up calls, making phone sales, or promoting special events.
  • Write at least 10 Thank You notes a day.

B.     Training and Product Knowledge

  • Go through Harry Friedman’s Training Program with Manager and know Barbara Jean’s technique on selling.
  • Keep abreast of fashion trends by reading magazine articles, training meetings, and visiting competitors.
  • Stay informed on current inventory (availability, color, in stock, prices)
  • Attend seminars for further training as needed.

C.     Other Responsibilities

  • Assist event coordinator with style shows (fittings, food, lighting, music, etc.)
  • Assist with merchandising and store presentation
  • Attend all in-store events.
  • Help with charity/road show events (pre-event set up, the event, and post clean up)
  • Conduct informative meetings on Wednesday or Friday when assigned.
  • Help with inventory twice a year (July and January)
  • Attend Friday meetings and storewide meetings without fail.
  • Keep buyers informed of what your customers’ needs and wants are, what lines or products we can add to expand the business.
  • Help with markdowns when needed.
  • Share cleaning and kitchen responsibilities with co-workers on assigned day.
  • Clean dressing room after each sale.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Retail sales experience.
  • Computer Experience a plus.
